Title:  Technician.Utilities-Oils&Fats(UAE)

Description:
Job Summary
Responsible for the daily operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) and Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). The operator ensures that all industrial discharge meets environmental standards through the effective management of physical, chemical, and biological treatment processes, including DAF, MBR, and RO systems
Key Responsibility Areas
> Process Monitoring: Oversee the continuous operation of the Drum Screens and DAF (Dissolved Air Flotation) units to remove suspended solids and fats/oils.
> Sludge Management: Operate and perform basic maintenance on Centrifugal Decanters for sludge dewatering and disposal.
> Biological Treatment: Monitor the Aeration Process, maintaining dissolved oxygen levels and biomass health within the MBR (Membrane Bioreactor) system.
> Advanced Filtration: Manage the RO (Reverse Osmosis) plant operations, including pressure monitoring, membrane cleaning (CIP), and permeate quality checks.
> Chemical Handling: Calculate and execute the dosing of coagulants, flocculants, and pH adjusters; maintain logs of chemical consumption.
> Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and minor mechanical adjustments to pumps, blowers, and agitators associated with the water treatment circuit.
> Compliance & Safety: Ensure all treated water parameters (COD, BOD, TSS, pH) comply with local environmental regulations and food safety (GMP/5S) standards.
> Data Logging: Maintain accurate shift logs, hourly readings, and incident reports - Preferrably via ERP systems (SAP/Oracle eAM).
> Effluent Sampling & Lab Coordination: Collect representative water samples from various stages (Inlet, DAF, Aeration, and Final Discharge) for laboratory analysis; interpret results to adjust sludge age or return activated sludge (RAS) flow rates.
> Membrane Maintenance & CIP: Execute specialized Clean-In-Place (CIP) protocols for MBR and RO membranes using acid/caustic washes to prevent scaling and bio-fouling, ensuring optimal permeate flux.
> Asset Performance Optimization: Monitor the efficiency of high-energy components like air blowers and submersible pumps; identify and report deviations in vibration or temperature to prevent catastrophic failure.
> Emergency Response & Troubleshooting: Act as the first responder for plant upsets, such as "bulking sludge" in the MBR or high oil carryover from the refinery, implementing immediate bypass or corrective dosing procedures.
> Consumable & Spare Parts Inventory: Proactively identify and request critical spares—such as filter bags, mechanical seals for decanters, and RO cartridge filters—to ensure zero downtime due to stock-outs.
> Environmental Documentation: Maintain the "Environmental Logbook" required for municipal audits, documenting all discharge volumes and sludge disposal manifests in compliance with government regulations and customer audit requirements.
> Instrumentation Calibration & Care: Perform routine cleaning and basic calibration of online sensors, including pH probes, ORP meters, Dissolved Oxygen (DO) sensors, and Flow meters, ensuring the SCADA system receives accurate data for automated dosing.
> Utility & Power Optimization: Monitor and record power consumption of heavy-duty equipment like aeration blowers and high-pressure RO pumps; implement "load shedding" or efficiency adjustments during peak hours to reduce the plant's carbon footprint and operational costs.
> Odor & Bio-Hazard Control: Manage the neutralization of foul odors (H₂S) from the equalization tanks and sludge holding areas through proper aeration balance and chemical scrubbing, ensuring a safe and compliant working environment for the Sea Port facility.
> Technical Training & Knowledge Transfer: Assist in the creation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Decanter and MBR units; provide on-the-job training to junior staff or helpers on the safe handling of hazardous chemicals and emergency shutdown protocols.

Key Performance Indicators
> Water Quality Compliance: 100% adherence to discharge limits for treated effluent/ waste water.
> Permeate Recovery Rate: Maintain the RO (Reverse Osmosis) recovery ratio within the target range 70–80%, to maximize water recycling and minimize concentrated waste brine.
> Equipment Uptime: Minimize downtime of critical units (Decanter, MBR, RO) through proactive monitoring. Maximum permissible breakdown to be 0.5% of the available utilized time.
> Chemical Efficiency: Optimize dosing rates to reduce waste while achieving desired water clarity. Achieve a dosing accuracy of +/- 5% of calculated setpoint, on an average in a month.
> Sludge Cake Dryness %: Achieving a minimum of 80% percentage of dry solids in the centrifugal decanter output
> Reporting Accuracy: Timely closing of work orders and precision in daily process logs.
