Job Summary

Direct responsibility for the Tax function in assigned country/region. Develop a complete understanding of applicable Direct and Indirect tax laws and frameworks. Keep updated on the latest developments. Support relevant BUs in properly understanding, implementing and complying with applicable assigned country, regional tax laws. Effectively use technology to improve direct and indirect tax compliance processes and controls. Facilitate strategic tax planning. Proactively identify and mitigate tax risks. Ensure timely regulatory filings, tax accounting and processing of refunds.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Obtain a complete understanding of applicable direct and indirect tax laws and frameworks in the assigned country and wider region. 
  • Keep updated on the latest amendments/judgements. 
  • Work closely with a cross-functional team to evaluate the impact of tax on IFFCO’s operations. 
  • Ensure that these are satisfactorily addressed. 
  • Identify potential contentious tax issues/interpretation of law. Obtain clarity and ensure resolution. 
  • Ensure compliance with applicable direct tax, WHT and VAT/other indirect tax laws. 
  • Conduct periodic tax audits. 
  • Ensure timely regulatory filing, tax accounting/reconciliation, resolution of accrual accounts and processing of refunds, where applicable. 
  • Effectively use technology at all stages of the indirect tax compliance process to help businesses save time, reduce risk, lower costs, improve cash flow and unlock indirect tax savings. 
  • Facilitate strategic tax planning and achievement of business objectives and tax-saving opportunities. 
  • Proactively identify and mitigate tax risks. 
  • Provide periodic training to BU Finance, Supply Chain, SSC and other teams on VAT implementation, documentation and compliance. Mentor BU / SSC tax compliance teams.

  • Gain a strong understanding of applicable direct and indirect tax laws/framework in the assigned countries and region. 
  • Keeping updated on the latest developments. 
  • Support BUs in proper understanding and compliance with direct and indirect tax laws in assigned countries/region. 
  • Facilitate strategic tax planning. 
  • Proactively identify and mitigate tax risks. 
  • Ensure timely regulatory filings, tax accounting/ reconciliations and processing of refunds.
     

Work experience requirement

  • Around 7-10 years relevant experience (at least 5years managing the function independently) in handling VAT and other indirect tax matters in MNCs (preferably in the CPG industry) or Big Four audit firms.
  • Prior work experience in the assigned region will be preferred.

Qualification

  • Professional accounting/tax qualification (CA/CPA/ACCA or equivalent). 
  • A legal qualification will be an added advantage.
