Title:  Head Trading - Grains and Oil Seeds

Job Summary

Manage Trading and Procurement activities for different Agri commodities like wheat, corn, barley (soybean, rapeseed exposure shall be an additional advantage) in line with overall business objectives and generate a competitive advantage through an optimized supplier base. Manages procurement transaction processes and inventory/procurement records, provide location procurement support and planning, manage supplier events and relationships, implement sourcing strategies resource and budget management. Essential exposure to wheat procurement globally and be able to deploy hedging strategies that would protect positions.

Roles & Responsibilities


-    Manage assigned country’s timely Supply of IFFCO’s assets with the required grain & oilseeds volumes.
-    Assist and advise on grains & oilseeds price forecasts, hedging strategies and for pricing all long-term contract customers.
-    Extract all possible value from IFFCO’s volume trade through: 
o    Negotiating the optimal contract terms with suppliers to protect the assets rights.
o    Screening and optimization of all logistics costs.
o    Use the different grain & oilseeds flows to discover combination opportunities.
o    Using the assets footprint, develop a physical Grain & Oilseeds trading market in the same area where the assets are.
-    Develop a separate trading book and extract any additional value from market speculation.
-    Monitor daily risk exposures including commodity risks, market fluctuation risks, credit risks, forex risks, counter-party management risks and devise strategies to safeguard the business assets 
-    50%: Sourcing and Trading. Develop Market Intelligence. 
-    Collaborate with Supply Chain and Operations to establish purchasing strategies and contracts. 
-    Understanding of futures markets and ability to hedge on the same. 
20%: Develop long range purchasing plans and strategies using a proactive approach. 
-    Manage and aggressively identify opportunities to optimize and mitigate risk within the supply chain. 
-    20%: Collaborate closely with Operations, Supply Chain and Sales on risks and costs evolution associated with all key functions, in order to optimize pricing and contribution margin. 
-    10%: Responsible for aligning overall team resources to execute against short term and long-term strategies and meeting strategic sourcing and location/plant/BU objectives.
-    Review financial and non-financial results and annual budgets agreed as part of the annual Business Plan on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis including review of targets for revenue, profits and cash collections. Review reports and develop solutions for improvements and present the same to the top management.
-    Provides overall guidance and procurement work expertise to the team. Accountable for talent development, succession planning and engagement of team. 
-    Ensure that the company HSE policies & procedures are fully followed.

  • % increase in Gross Margins and EBITDA

Work experience requirement

  • Minimum 12-15 years experience in commodity procurement, trading, and merchandising,  with at least 3-5 years in FMCG organization preferred. 
  • Up to 20% travel – to conferences, supplier events and locations.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to leverage purchasing opportunities across a large and complex organization.
  • Technical knowledge and experience purchasing and / or selling commodities and managing trading book independently.
  • Should have Agri commodities sourcing expertise for India, Canada, Australia, Russia, Ukraine and other parts of the world (non-negotiable for wheat procurement)

Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree preferably in Agriculture related discipline
• MBA/Post-Graduate Diploma in Management from a reputed university is an added advantage
