Job Summary

Head Freights is to partner with business units across IFFCO Group assigned region  to get long term agreements in order to obtain competitive freight rates with reputed carriers, ensuring reliable and time bound service across freight corridors 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain an operating systems critical to the success of the company.
  • Interface with ocean liners, seaport authorities, vendors and other government bodies (if required) to facilitate smooth transaction of all export/imports/transhipment by ocean mode.
  • Negotiate favourable spontaneous (spot) or term contract buying rates to maximize profit margin. Enquiry resolution.
  • Negotiate ocean FCL/LCL/Air freight with space allocation / free time in both POL/POD and any other value added service if required.
  • Stakeholder’s management. Ensure effective communication with respective business units in the opportunities, challenges, expectation for continuous improvement opportunities. 
  • Analyse current operating systems to further enhance performance and productivity.
  • Implement cost reduction control to increase efficiency and margins.
  • Sound financial knowledge in budget freight management and control.
  • Maintain a high level of housekeeping and corporate image. Networking with shipping lines and service providers. 
  • Submit monthly operations report concerning service trend, freight trend & freight variation, detention minimizing, cost containment and export/import data to management.
  • Implement and administer security procedures for high value shipment.
  • Renew all service contract & credit term prior to expiry                                     
  • Perform other duties as and when directed. 

KPIs

  • Cost Optimization – Head Count numbers, Manpower Cost, Attrition, Leaves, Over Time, Absenteeism.
  • Productivity – HC Vs Volume, HC Vs Wage Bill
  • Building People Capabilities  - Training Man-days, Recruitment Cycles, Diversity Index, Employee Engagement initiatives, Succession Management and Talent Management 
  • Ad-hoc Project Management and Execution
  • Administration - facility and assets management, visa and other required cards application and renewal

Work experience requirement

  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in major carriers and merchandise traders
  • Strong understanding of shipping & incoterms
  • Experience of working in multi geographies/multi cultural environment.

Qualification

Minimum under graduate, preferably SCM & Logistic diplomas
